How To Start an Online Weight Loss Business in Your Home Office Plus 3 Key Strategies by Lana Dee Leslie

You have made the decision to transition from your offline, traditional weight loss business to having an online presence to generate even more prospects. Good for you! Whether you are just starting out in the weight loss or health business, these tips will be applicable to everyone.
First look at how you are doing things to get new prospects. If you are driven and really intend to be successful, you will be talking to virtually everyone you come into contact with. This can be effective if done the correct way, especially one on one in an offline environment.
Making contact with prospects over the internet is trickier, but the point is that they will all be cold leads. They don’t know anything about you.
Instead of taking the direct approach or the fast track with announcing the incredible benefits of your product and business opportunity, you must step back and develop relationships first. You must "pre-sell" your prospects. Warm them up before you shift into the selling process. You must first establish rapport.
So in order for people to be at least somewhat interested in your business and how it can benefit them, you must market yourself as someone with value. In other words, you have something that they don’t have and that they want or need. Perhaps you market yourself as an expert in weight loss, fitness or nutrition.
Your prospects will be more apt to listen to your message if it is product focused rather than the concept of a home business. Start them off buying into the product and then a cerrtain percentage of those people will go on to seeing the business opportunity and the benefits they can reap by setting up their own home based weight loss business.
If you are perceived as knowledgeable in weight loss, nutrition or are in a particular field of interest to them or have a perceived aura of success and achievement, they will naturally be attracted to your message. You also want to position yourself as someone, in their mind, they could follow as a leader, teaching them and coaching them towards their goals.
In order to do this, you must brand yourself across all online marketing strategies. But before you begin, prepare a strategy plan that has an underlying premise. Ask yourself, what is it that I possess that is unique in terms of knowledge and skills that I can highlight? What is my Unique Selling Proposition? Are you good with words or perhaps a former teacher?
What other transferable skills or knowledge base do you have that could be leveraged and marketed that is applicable or relevant to people looking for information about wieght loss, nuturition or fitness? How can you create that sense of value to people who don’t know you on the internet?
Once you formulate a strategy, deliver that in a unique manner through article writing, videos, social media connections, and on your blog.
Here are the top 3 strategies to get established online with your weight loss, nutrition or wellness business:
1) Set up a website
Whether you have a corporate replicated website or your own customized version, you must have a individualized website to which you can drive traffic. Not only is this absolutely necessary, it will brand you as an individual with whom people will want to work with or buy products.
2) Capture the leads
Once they land on your website, you must attempt to capture their name, email and possibly phone number. In order for them to be compelled to give you their contact information, you must have a website landing page that is enticing enough so that they submit the name to you for something in exchange. this can be anything of perceived value from an ebook, a free report or a series of videos.
3) Market the website
Just as you find creative ways to network in your local community, you must do the same online. There are many marketing strategies to drive traffic to your website including:
Content Marketing: articles on your website, blogs, article directories, create a blog, make videos and post on your website, blog and video sites such as Youtube, MetaCafe, etc.
Social Media. Facebook, Twitter, Forums, Groups, LinkedIn, etc. Try to find groups where those you are targeting hang out. If your target is people looking to lose weight, there are many forums about weight loss, nutrition, fitness, etc. Many poeple on these forums may also be intererested in developing an online home business because of their comfort level with using the internet. Join groups in weight loss and wellness categories.
Backlinks. Comment on other blogs, websites, forums, etc. and include a link back to your landing page. The more external links you have out on the web, the more opportunities people will find you site.
Paid Advertising. Pay Per Click (PPC) on Google and Yahoo, Ezine ads, and Solo Ads are a few examples. Solo Ads are done by email marketing whereby you advertise your site by leveraging someone else’s list that is sending out their mailings to the same target market you are trying to reach. However, be careful you are not directly competing with the list owner if they have a product that is in direct competition with yours.
Prospecting on the internet is like searching for gold. The goldminer goes where he thinks gold will be found. He digs in areas where gold has been found before.
Prospecting for leads on the internet is also like fishing. The fisherman goes to certain spots where he knows the kind of fish he wants hangs out. Once he finds that spot, he doesn't just cast his line, he puts out multiple hooks with different bait.
Trying various lures and bait will bring in enough leads and prospects to keep you so motivated that you will want to get as many hooks in the water as you can manage. That is why the market for a product in the weight loss business is so great. There are seemingly as many people who could use such products as there are fish in the ocean (well maybe, not that many!)
